  • 2 lbs Russet Potatoes Peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Salt Or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground, or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder Optional, for added flavor
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder Optional, for added flavor

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
  3. Drain the potatoes thoroughly in a colander.
  4. Return potatoes to the pot. Using a potato masher or electric mixer, mash until smooth. If using a mixer, start on low and gradually increase to medium speed.
  5. Add milk and butter; stir until butter is melted and the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  6. Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using). Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more milk if necessary to reach desired consistency.
  7. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra creamy mashed potatoes, use warm milk. You can also add other herbs and spices such as chives, rosemary, or thyme.
