Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 1 3/4 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Optional
  • 8-10 ounces White Chocolate Candy Melts For spiderweb

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Pan
  • Electric Mixer
  • Rubber Spatula
  • Piping Bag or Ziploc Bag
  • Toothpick

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips (if using). Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool completely. Melt white chocolate melts. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe concentric circles onto the cooled brownies. Drag a toothpick outwards to create a spiderweb.
  9. Let the spiderweb set completely before cutting and serving.

Notes

For a richer brownie, use dark cocoa powder. You can also add nuts or other mix-ins to the batter. Make sure the brownies are completely cool before adding the spiderweb to prevent melting.
