Method

  1. Step 1: Grease the Baking Dish: Start by greasing a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Bread: Cut the loaf of French bread into bite-sized cubes. Place the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish, spreading them out evenly.

  4. Step 4: Combine the Bread and Egg Mixture: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Gently press down on the bread with a spatula.
  5. Step 5: Add Butter: Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
  6. Step 6: Refrigerate Overnight: Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Step 7: Preheat the Oven: The next morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Step 8: Bake the Casserole: Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Step 9: Serve Warm: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares. Serve warm with maple syrup.
