Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your muffins bake evenly and rise to perfection.
- Step 2: Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with cooking spray.
- Step 3: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Step 4: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the molasses until well combined.
- Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
- Step 6: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Step 7: Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
- Step 8: Once baked, allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Step 9: While the muffins are cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
- Step 10: Once the muffins are completely cool, drizzle the maple glaze over the top of each muffin.
Notes
Store the muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
